NRCHC is looking for volunteers to support a range of important programs and activities. Volunteering at NRCHC provides an opportunity to work towards improving the health and wellbeing of people from culturally and socially diverse backgrounds.

There are a range of activities to participate in. The volunteer positions currently available are:

  • English Coverstion Tutoring (one to one or English Coversation Tutoring Group)
  • Homework Support Group/Individual Tutoring
  • Water Exercise/Hydrotherapy
  • Client Support (Psychiatric Disability Support Services)

Volunteers are provided with orientation/training, supervision and ongoing support. The centre also covers travel expenditure and encourages volunteers to undertake training for their personal/professional development. NRCHC encourages community members to participate in a range of community activities, which will contribute to their sense of belonging and well being.

The aim of NRCHC's volunteer coordination program is to identify individuals who are at risk of isolation because of physical disability, age, language and cultural barriers. Reducing the level of isolation that individuals/communities face by providing them with volunteer support. The program equipts volunteers with the skills to address clients' needs and meet with both clients' and theirs own aspirations.

NRCHC acknowledges the extraordinary range of individuals who contribute to volunteering-in terms of age, cultural background, experience and skills.

Prospective volunteers are interviewed by the Volunteer Coordinator, prior to a placement. Volunteers are also required to complete an application form and undertake a police check.
